ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Wednesday handed over heavy machinery to authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan. The machinery, worth Rs730 million, was transferred to the G-BDMA following directives from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The machinery includes wheel loaders, excavators, heavy duty cranes, tractors (with all accessories), compressors and rock drill machines. The machinery has been procured primarily for the disaster-prone areas of G-B which have witnessed a number of natural disasters over the past decade in the form of flash floods and land sliding affecting road networks specially Karakoram Highway (KKH).
