Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has called out Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that Muslims were being harassed in the country and he should be ready to face the consequences if the Indian Muslim community approached the UN.

This Indian Muslim is using spoken word to break free of stereotypes

“Muslims are being harassed in India and if the community approached the UN and narrated their ordeal, then Modi will not be able to show his face anywhere. Stop it otherwise be ready to face the consequences,” he said while speaking to media.

He further added, “Muslims follow the Holy Quran and will continue to obey it till their last breath, whereas the prime minister is neither aware of Islam nor Hinduism."

Azam Khan, a former Uttar Pradesh minister, came into the spotlight after he wrote a letter to the UN in 2015 demanding intervention to protect the Muslim community in India. The letter was written after a Muslim man was beaten to death by a mob for allegedly consuming beef in Dadri.

Six controversial statements from Hindu extremist leader and UP's CM Yogi Adityanath

Khan also slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying that there was a vast difference between the latter's words and actions . He said even though Adityanath spoke out against illegal land possession, he had taken no steps against a minister involved in illegal construction worth crores of rupees.
