ISLAMABAD: A body of engineers have called for properly assessing adverse impact of development so that it could be tackled in the short and long-terms.

The Institution of Engineers, Pakistan Rawalpindi-Islamabad Centre (IEP-RIC) organised an academic and technical discussion to draw the attention of the general public and relevant government departments towards the serious impact of environmental hazards on socio-economic development.

A veteran environmental expert, Prof Dr Muhammad Anwar Baig analysed the environment impact assessment.

Participants deliberated upon the qualitative and quantitative impact of environmental hazards on the society's overall development.

Tufail Ali Zubedi | 7 years ago | Reply Development has always posed a threat to environment and nature. That is the main reason, the concept of sustainability was introduced. The way forward is "Sustainable Development", meeting the needs of present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Hope this helps!! Engr.
