“Youth are the greatest asset that any nation can have. They serve as a good measure of extent to which a country canreproduce as well as sustain itself,” he said this while addressing a seminar on “Standardisation and Transparency in Government Procurements,” organised at Comsat University.
Corruption gnaws away at the economic entrails of a country impeding progress and development by weakening the institutions on which economic growth depends, he said.
Lauding the students he said that youth are the greatest asset that any nation can have. Not only are they legitimately regarded as the future leaders, they are potentially and actually the greatest investment for a country’s development.
Explaining the procurement process he said that in Pakistan, PPRA has been established for regulation of procurements of goods, services & works in the public sector. Public procurements refer to the process through which public authorities procure goods & services. All existing rules and regulations provide for accountability.
He said that transparency in government procurements has direct relationship with the economic development.
Transparent practices on the procurement affairs leads to financial prudence which in term enables the respective authorities to use public funds properly in order to get best return for the each penny spent from the national exchequer.
