LAHORE: People from all over the city gathered at Istanbul Chowk at The Mall on Wednesday to hold a peace rally in support of Baloch and Pakhtun students studying at the Punjab University. Meanwhile, the Punjab University administration closed down all gates of the varsity to stop students from participating in the rally and causing an inconvenience. The participants of the rally gathered to support students studying at the Punjab University and protested against the ‘injustice’ of the varsity’s administration and that of the Punjab government. “Injustice with the students of Balochistan and K-P/Fata” was the theme of the event which started at Istanbul Chowk and headed to the Lahore Press Club. The participants shouted slogans against the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) and demanded action be taken against those responsible for the unrest. They alleged the Punjab University administration was trying to save the culprits of the March 21 clashes.
