Actor and film-maker Farhan Akhtar and celebrity hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani who were married for 16 years, are now divorced.

Farhan, who officially announced their separation last year on social media, filed for divorce in October 2016 at the Bandra Family Court and waited for six months for the court order, said a source.

On Monday, they arrived at the court and their marriage ended legally with the ‘mutual' divorce granted by the court.

The former couple has two daughters Shakya and Akira.

Once termed Bollywood’s most stylish couple, the pair wasn't spotted together at events lately, released an official statement confirming their separation.

“This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner,” read a statement published by Mid-Day.

They were then spotted at a Mumbai family court to attend a counselling session.

It's a first: Farhan Akhtar’s super friendly divorce

“They were the most dignified couple at the negotiating table. Even the most graceful celebrities have vented out some discordant notes when they sit down for the negotiation. Farhan and Adhuna’s case is perhaps the first exception,” shared an eye-witness.

Adhuna has got the custody of their children and Farhan will have full access to them.
