Persecution of Ahmadis

I thank you once again for your policy of giving some space to the marginalised section of the society.

CHENAB NAGAR (RABWAH): Thank you for publishing the news report titled “99 Ahmadis persecuted in 2010: Report” in your newspaper of March 18, regarding the persecution of Ahmadis in Pakistan in 2010. However two factual errors should be pointed out. According to the Ahmadiyya press release, 99 Ahmadis were killed in this year, but many more were persecuted for their faith. Furthermore in the second paragraph of the report it was written: “Meanwhile, some worship places of the community were razed, while 28 others were sealed by the government during the last year, the report asserted.”

However, according to the figures compiled by the Ahmadiyya community, 28 houses of worship were sealed by the government since the promulgation of an ordinance dating back to 1984.

I thank you once again for your policy of giving some space to the marginalised section of the society.

Viqar ul Haq | 12 years ago | Reply Our society has lost all its morality. In pre 1984 ordinance days, I remember classmates who belonged to various religious backgrounds, with never ever any one pointing out anything against any other, but now we have grown so fractious that we Muslims belonging to different schools of thought following different molvis and offering prayers in different mosques and wearing different lenghths of shirts and shalwars, and sporting different caps and beards, get enraged in minutes one talks something which is against any others beliefs, what to talk of minorities. I womder here all y Parsi, Christian and Ahmedi friends have gone and what are their internal feelings about us Muslims and their motherland Pakistan where that had been living since centuries and practiced their own religious rites. I feel sorry for all Pakistanis, Muslims or non-. As a majority we have no unity of religion, no one accepting to offer prayers in the others' mosque. May Allah guide us all to follow His teachings and follow the Sunnah of our beloved Holy Prophet (pbuh). May Allah give us the strength to tolerate others and their views, religious or moral.Ameen.
