Eradicating disease: Measles mop up drive kicks off

EPI Lahore Director says vaccinators’ attendance and coverage were being monitored.

LAHORE: A three-day drive to mop up measles kicked off in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Kasur on Sunday.

This was announced by Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique at the monthly chief executive officers (Health) meeting held in the Directorate General Health Services Punjab.

Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir, Chief Executive Officers (Health) of all districts, programme managers and CEOs health of all districts attended the meeting.

Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI) Lahore Director Dr Munir Ahmed said the vaccinators’ attendance and coverage were being monitored.  He also called for a revised micro plan and a comprehensive strategy to improve immunisation at grassroots level.

He added that penalties and other disciplinary measures would be taken against staff not complying with the orders.
