Bangash, who was elected from PK-38 Kohat-II on a PTI ticket in the 2013 general elections, became the first K-P MPA to put his child in a government school on Saturday when he added daughter Abeeya Zia’s name on the admissions sheet at Government Girls Primary School Muhammadzai.
K-P improves on key educational indicators
While speaking to The Express Tribune, Bangash said that if leaders want to build the public’s trust in government institutions, they should take the first step.
“If we urge people to put their children in government schools but enrol our own children in private schools instead, that would be unfair,” said the MPA.
He said the PTI-led provincial government has taken concrete steps to promote quality education across the province. “I have kept an eye on education in my district and monitor schools’ performance on a weekly and sometimes even a daily basis,” said Bangash.
If government schools begin providing quality education there would be no need for people to enrol their kids in private schools, he contended.

According to Bangash, the government has spent millions of rupees on education and health sector in K-P and people should take advantage of the facilities, saying he himself had a daughter’s surgery done from the state-run Liaqat Memorial Hospital in Kohat.
He urged his fellow lawmakers, politicians, government officers and teachers to use public institutions, including schools and hospitals, to help build the public’s trust in them.
This year, the K-P government aims to enrol some 900,000 children in schools as compared to 800,000 last year. The province-wide drive will continue till April 30.
