No case registered: Pharmaceutical company looted

The pharmaceutical company is owned by a relative of the honorary consul-general of Somalia

KARACHI: A pharmaceutical company, housing an office of the Somalian consulate, was robbed Friday night in Clifton.



The pharmaceutical company is located in a bungalow in Clifton's Block 5 and is owned by a relative of the honorary consul-general of Somalia, a consulate official explained, adding the company had provided space to the consulate to run its student affairs section.

The police said there were around six to seven robbers who barged into the company and took the guards hostage at gunpoint. They remained at the company for a considerable amount of time and took with them four mobiles phones, laptops and one LCD, police added.



The Additional Inspector General of Karachi police, Mushtaq Mahar, said a search for the robbers was under way by investigators through the help of footage from the closed-circuit television cameras installed at and around the premises.

He asserted that the robbery was intended at the company and not the consulate office. A case was not registered until the filing of this story.
