Speaking during a visit to SEPCO, Ali gave a 15-day ultimatum to defaulters to avoid disconnection.
"If consumers do not clear their dues within fifteen days, power connections are be cut off and not restored until 100% recovery is made," he said. "We will not compromise on power theft."

The minister urged SEPCO officials to attain the target of 100% recovery with the help of Rangers if necessary. He added that the officers should also ensure recovery from government consumers.
"Officials should pay visits to the houses of all defaulters and launch an awareness drive to sensitise people into getting legal connections," he said. "This would bring a significant reduction in line losses and curb power theft."

Ali added that 4,200 megawatts of electricity was added to the national grid by the present government, claiming that there would be zero load-shedding under the current regime.
Meanwhile, SEPCO Chief Executive Officer Abdul Latif Anjum told the minister that the recovery teams were conducting a massive crackdown against power thieves. "Action against power theft has continued without any discrimination," he said.
