The church, with support from provincial ministry for minorities, had organised the singing contest spread over three rounds. As many as 14 youngsters of different age groups participated in the competition.
However, after a tough contest, only five contestants were left after the first round. These whittled down to just three after the second round.
In the final and third round, which ended on Sunday, the three singers vied for the top spot including 12-year-old Nobel Javaid Sagar.
After a competitive and tough final round Nobel was declared as the best singer.
As an award, Minorities Ministry’s Provincial Coordinator Ravi Kumar announced that the government would bear a year’s educational expenses for the young boy for the academic year of 2017-18.
Nobel the only son of known poet and musician Javaid Sagar, is a student of seventh grade at a private educational institution in the city.
While talking to The Express Tribune Nobel said that he had inherited the art of singing from his father who had studied under renowned musician Ustad Mola Bux.
