KARACHI: The APNS Executive Committee has decided to hold the Annual General Council Meeting on March 30, 2017 in Karachi.

The General Council will elect executive committee for 2017-18 and chalk out strategies and actions for the problems of the newspaper industry.

The committee approved the Annual Report of the Secretary General for the year 2016-17 as well as Annual Accounts of the Society for the year 2016.

Challenges for print media: APNS holds advertising roundtable

The APNS Executive Committee meeting, held under the chairmanship of APNS President Sarmad Ali, appreciated the efforts of the office bearers and the role of Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb in the long pending increase of government advertisement rates and payment of dues against devolved ministries.

The executive committee was apprised by the president on the proceedings of the PID meeting on proposed ABC automation proposals.

The meeting was attended by President Sarmad Ali, Vice President Mumtaz A Tahir, Joint Secretary Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Finance Secretary Syed Ali Hasan Naqvi, Mohsin Bilal, Waseem Ahmed, Rehmat Ali Raazi, Hamayun Tariq, Shahab Zuberi, Fauzia Shaheen, Rizwan Ashraf, Kazi Asad Abid, Aamer Mahmood, Syed Mumtaz Ahmed Shah, Mushtaq A Qureshi, Sardar Khan Niazi, Faisal Zahid Malik, Ilyas Shakir, Dr. Waqar Yousuf Azeemi, Khushnood Ali Khan, Humayun Gulzar, Riaz Ahmed Mansuri, Jamil Athar, Shahid Mahmood and Syed Haroon Shah.
