BAHAWALPUR: Cholistan Development Authority has allocated Rs1.317 billion for various development projects to provide state-of-the-art socio-physical infrastructure in far flung areas of Cholistan during the fiscal year 2016-17.

Cholistan Development Authority Chairman and provincial minister Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar revealed this while presiding over a meeting at the conference room of Commissioner Bahawalpur on Sunday.

The chairman said he wanted to bring the people of Cholistan into the socio-economic mainstream and the government was fully determined to mobilise all available resources.

“The Punjab government’s commitment to provide comfortable and decent socio-economic cover is practically reflected by planning to allot state land to the people of Cholistan and the scrutiny process in this regard has been completed through a transparent mechanism,” Iqbal said. He said a committee has been formed to finalise its recommendations on allotment process.

The meeting was briefed that under the directives of Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Saqib Zafar, special committees have been constituted for further improvement of the operational mechanism of Cholistan Development Authority.

Financial Committee has district accounts officer, assistant commissioner Yazman and divisional account officer Cholistan Development Authority as its members while Advisory Committee includes district attorney, law officers of CDA and a representative of S&GAD.
