LHCBA polls held amid tight security

LAHORE: Annual elections for the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) for the 2017-18 term were held on Saturday amid tight security.

A large number of Rangers and policemen were deployed and all routes leading to the Lahore High Court were blocked for vehicular traffic. Lawyers were not allowed to enter premises without showing bar membership card and CNICs.

Bar elections: LHC suspends order against biometric voting

The total voters of the LHCBA are 21,481. Around 13,000 members got themselves registered with biometric system and exercised their right to vote.

Fourteen candidates participated in elections on four different slots.
