Terror resurfaces (II)

Letter February 18, 2017
We are still far from an ultimate triumph against hardcore terrorism

SHIKARPUR: Once again, the lethal and heinous attacks on Mall Road in Lahore and Peshawar’s Hayatabad area have proven that we are still far from an ultimate triumph against hardcore terrorism. The Lahore attack claimed 13 lives and 80 critical injuries while the Peshawar attack devoured a number of innocent lives and crippled others. Such fatal attacks have been intermittently hitting Pakistan despite the Herculean efforts by different regimes, civil and military alike. However, the recent dreadful incidents have reminded us of the previous deadly attacks in various parts of the country. Time and again these bloody suicide bombings have taken place but we have frequently failed to desist them at all. The most gruesome attack on Army Public School Peshawar forced the launch of the National Action Plan and other operations against terrorism in the country. Initially, the operations had successfully hit their targets but currently, it seems no implementation has been done so far to properly eliminate the deep roots of baleful terrorism. It is high time for both, the civil and military governments to smell the bomb powder of the killers used against innocent civilians.

The brainwashed centres and the curriculum of extremism are other demanding trends of increasing and training venomous terrorists. The instability of security on our borders also provides space and air to mortal terrorists to easily enter our country. Terrorists are taught the false definition of Islam. Thus, such centres should be traced out and destroyed completely. Over and above, all points of NAP must be implemented practically to shatter deep-rooted terrorism.
