LAHORE: 'Bil Batori' Nusrat Ara of Ainak Wala Jinn has remained in the news ever since word of her plight proliferated on social media.

Many rushed to her assistance thereafter. Recently, the Pakistan Baitul Mal released Rs50,000 for her treatment.

But, this is not all. Nusrat is all set to make a comeback. The Punjab Arts Council has offered her a cameo in Bachchon Ki Dunya. Starting February 5, the play will be staged every Sunday at Lahore's Alhamra Art Centre.

Nusrat, whose medical condition has limited her presence to a fleeting five minutes, will essay the role of a much-loved churail who imparts wisdom to children. The veteran actor is overjoyed at the prospect despite her failing health. “I will work till I die. I have spent over four decades in the field. I never approached the government for help. I may not be as fit as I used to be but will forever strive to eke out a living doing something I thoroughly enjoy,” Nusrat told The Express Tribune.

Zaimeeeena!: The jinn of our hearts left heartbroken

“Bill Batori’s character really intrigued children in the past. We initiated this production only to give her a platform,” director Raza Malik told The Express Tribune.

Nusrat praised the Punjab government for helping her using the council as a medium saying, “So many people are coming forward to help. The Punjab government took notice of my hardships. I’m happy about being given an opportunity to work again.”

“Artistes are national assets who ought to be accorded due respect. But, I don’t want people to pity me,” she said.

Nusrat also revealed that she had used the Baitul Mal funds to pay her medical bills and rent. “I am still struggling but I hope I keep getting small projects so I don’t need to beg for alms anymore,” she said.
