Shoot-out: Suspected robber killed in police encounter

A 30-bore pistol was seized from the spot. Police are looking into the case

FAISALABAD: A robber was killed in a police encounter while his accomplices managed to escape in the limits of Jhang Bazaar police late Friday night.

According to police spokesman Amir Waheed, an ASI Amjad Ali was taking a robber named Khalid Abbas alias Khaldi for recovery of looted amount when three unidentified men intercepted the police van near Yousuf Chowk, Marzipura they opened fire and got their accomplice Khalid free at gunpoint from the police custody.

Later, the suspect snatched a motorcycle from a man named Sultan near Nisar Akbar Hosiery and escaped towards Rajbah Road.

SHO Jhang Bazaar police station SI Imran Mannan chased the accused and besieged them near Mahiay Shah Graveyard.

The police directed the suspect to surrender but he opened fire on the police. In retaliation, Khalid received serious bullet injuries and died on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The suspect was wanted in several robbery and other cases of street crimes, said the police.

A 30-bore pistol was seized from the spot. Police are looking into the case.
