ISLAMABAD: An investigation carried out by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has found that the marketing companies of petroleum products have so far deposited Rs1.47 billion in national exchequer which had been collected from the public.

Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, at the beginning of this month, had directed FIA to investigate the issue of petroleum taxes which were collected from the public but were not deposited to the national exchequer.

Meanwhile, the interior minister has appreciated the performance of FIA Lahore in this regard.  He said that it is obligatory that the accountability of every penny should be made which belonged to the national exchequer

There were reports that the marketing companies were receiving billions of rupees from the public as petroleum levy but this amount was not being deposited to the national exchequer. The minister ordered the director FIA to proceed to Lahore for investigation into the matter.
