After the parking contract ended in February, the CAA took over. The new director-general has decided to hand control over to a contractor once again.
Once the new system is in place, a machine would print a coded ticket for vehicle owners who want to enter the parking area. On exiting, the same ticket would be inserted into a machine at the exit point. These tickets would help record the exact time the vehicle entered and left the area. Payment will be made on exit and would depend on the duration of stay.
According to sources, cars can be parked for three hours for Rs30 but after that an additional Rs10 would be charged for every hour.
