Girl commits suicide in Multan

Gilr was disheartened over her parents decision of rejecting a proposal and shot herself with a gun

MULTAN: A girl committed suicide after her parents refused a marriage proposal in Multan on Wednesday.

Shujabad District Police Officer Khawar Lodhi told The Express Tribune that Shazia, 22, resident of Sikandarabad, was in love with a boy and wanted to marry him.

When the boy’s family sent a marriage proposal for Shazia, her parents refused it. As a result, Shazia got disheartened over her parents’ decision and shot herself with a gun.

The police shifted the body to Nishtar Hospital for legal formalities.

Earlier on December 6, 2016, a 50-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping into Lower Bari Doab in Kacha Khu, Khanewal. The deceased was a widow and mother of 10 children. The woman was a resident of Chak 9, Doarath in Kacha Khu and was depressed because of financial problems.

Similarly, a man also committed suicide after poisoning his four minor children in Multsan a few months back.
