If you are a professional photographer and have to go through the hassle of managing your equipment and still end up forgetting or losing you essential gear then this device is for you.

GearEye is a smart gear management system that helps professionals organising all their equipment with the added ability to track each item.

It tracks your gear and lets you know if something that should be there, isn't there. If something is missing, GearEye helps you locate it within its range, ensuring you don't have to keep replacing equipment.

The management system features a GearEye device (you can either opt for a dongle or a smartphone case), Radio Frequency ID (RFID) GearTags that are connected to the device via dedicated smartphone app.

The smartphone case is only available for handful of devices including iPhone 6, 6s, 6 plus, 7, 7 plus; Samsung Galaxy- S6, S6 Edge, S7 and S7 Edge.

How it works

Attach the tiny, battery-free RFID adhesive GearTags to each piece of equipment that you want to keep track of and then sync them using the app.

The GearEye app also provides additional functionalities, such as customized lists for any specific work project, so that you’re always prepared for any job.

This latest smart notebook will redefine how you take notes

For GearEye to work, all you need to do is to place the dongle in the bag with the rest of the camera equipment. Once you tap the scan button in GearEye app, the device would scan the bag and let you know if all the listed equipment are there. If you are using the smartphone case device, you can scan for your equipment by moving your smartphone over the bag. In case something is missing, you can locate your missing piece of equipment using GearEye.

It also helps you pack light, as it would also notify you if there is anything that’s not on the list.

Although the device was developed keeping photographers in mind, it is useful for anyone who likes to keep things organised.

GearEye’s revolutionary idea led to an instant success for the device. The product was launched on Kickstarter in November last year and was able to secure $558,069 in pledges in only 59 days, well above its $60,000 goal. The device is expected to be shipped to early backers by July 2017.
