ISLAMABAD: The Unification Bloc has rejected the offer of Ministries made by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif but pledged to support the Punjab government in their full capacity.

Sources say Sharif offered almost 8 ministries to the Bloc following the cabinet's expansion.

The Chief Minister met with a delegation of the Unification Bloc, who shared their grievances with him.

Sharif also reportedly assured the delegation that resignations from the chairpersons of the Standing Committees will be taken back.

The delegation of the Unification Bloc held detailed discussions on the division of ministries and the Punajb Assembly session to be held on March 11.

Arshad Javed | 13 years ago | Reply The recent move in the Punjab Assembly, where PML-N has taken in the PML-Q dissenters (Unification Bloc), is not a good move and not in favour of the country and its people at large. The PML-N leadership should be aware that the people who have changed their loyalties from PML-Q, can do this again in future, as they did in the past, when the Sharifs were exiled. The constitutional status of the Unification Bloc is also not clear yet. There is division of opinion on the issue. Some law experts, including senior lawyers Aitzaz Ahsan and Akram Sheikh, are of the view that dissidents will face no disqualification under the defection law, while S M Zafar, who is also a member of the PML-Q, believes that members who are violating the party policy are legally liable to disqualification. Any party in Pakistan, which is sincere and honest with the people of Pakistan and wants to give a strong political system to the country, should abstain from setting wrong traditions. The beneficiaries of the current situation in Punjab must not forget that this step might harm the democratic process.
