Hisar Foundation has launched ‘Recommendations of Pakistan’s National Water Policy Framework’ for the government’s consideration. This is a culmination of two years of consultations, which included discussion sessions with various water stakeholders and two international water conferences. The recommendations focus on five main areas, which include improving water access for the poor, financing urban and rural water value chain, safeguarding the Indus basin and improving water institutions. The goals of the recommendations are to extend irrigation system to arid districts of Pakistan, create new storages and enhance existing storages at different levels.
