KARACHI: Mahira Khan is undoubtedly Pakistan's biggest star. The actor has cemented a place for herself not only in Lollywood but also Bollywood unlike any other local artist.

Whether it is her acting, style or bold statements, the trailblazer continues to make Pakistan proud again and again. Therefore, in honour of her birthday, we bring you six times Mahira made Pakistan shine on the world map.

1) When she made her Bollywood debut opposite SRK

Mahira may not have been the first Pakistani actor to debut in Bollywood but she certainly made headlines by bagging a role with the biggest star of the Indian film industry. The actor was seen with SRK in Rahul Dholakia's Raees.

Donning a backless, ivory Nicolas Jebran couture gown, the starlet looked simply ravishing. With her tresses swiped to one side, the diva donned minimal jewellery and her makeup was on point – glowy and flushed with accentuated eyes.

3) Teacher's Global Awards:

The actor, who was last seen in Shoaib Mansoor's Verna, vowed to use her stardom to help transform children’s lives just as her teachers did for her.

In a moving tribute to teachers while addressing the Global Teacher Prize ceremony in Dubai in March this year, Mahira said, “Teachers have the power to make a shy little girl like me believe in her dreams, so yes, teachers do matter.”

“We walk on red carpets, we get to support the causes close to our hearts. People like us, I talk about sportsmen, actors. We do all kinds of things and people around the world celebrate our success but the world’s teachers, the very people who shape the next generation aren’t thanked enough. You [teachers] are the true stars,” the actor added.

4) When she vouched for Global Girls Education:

The actor addressed the ceremony and paid tribute to the teachers who played a role in her life.

“All learning is understanding. When I look back at my own teachers, I had been affected by so many of them. I stand here in front of you because of all those teachers who understood me, who understood that they had a huge responsibility in shaping the way every child in the class thought; making a difference by seeing the difference,” said Mahira. “Today I have a voice and a platform and I plan to do exactly that in my capacity.”

Being ranked fifth and the highest placed Pakistani took the down to earth star totally by surprise. “Honestly, this time I think I’m just going to take the tag and run with it! It feels great, third time in a row. Being sexy or beautiful for me is really just being comfortable in your own skin,” said Mahira.

6. When she was named Pakistan's first brand ambassador for L'Oreal:
