KARACHI: The Express Tribune reporter Sheharyar Ali received the Agahi Award 2016, which is a prestigious award for journalists in Pakistan, during an annual ceremony held in Islamabad on Saturday.

Ali was given the award in the category of ‘rule of law.’ In his story, titled ‘Getting Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) in Lyari is an ordeal few are willing to bear,’ the reporter has focused how the process of applying for CNICs in Lyari is different from the rest of the country.

He explored the trials faced by people in the area when visiting the NADRA office in the area.

Inaugurated on March 28, 2012, the Agahi Awards are Pakistan’s first ever journalism awards recognising the best journalists across print, television, radio and the internet on more than 40 different journalism thematic beats.

Agahi and Mishal Pakistan in collaboration with leading press clubs across the country, local and international media development bodies, regulatory authorities and the private sector organise these awards.
