The Karachi team’s project, also in the Chemistry category, will focus on ‘Cost effective industrial pollution prevention,’ while Sheeraz Munir from Khairpur will examine the role of Lolium and Paspalum plant species in decreasing air pollution. These students had won the Intel National Science Olympiad earlier this year in Islamabad.
They will be competing with 1611 high school students from 59 countries for more than $4 million in prizes. The competition is being held in San Jose, California, from May 9 to May 14, and is the “world’s largest pre-college science competition,” according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
