School infrastructure: 1,100 classrooms to be built in Multan

MULTAN: Around 1,100 classrooms will be constructed at 650 primary and middle schools of Multan district.

This was announced by Multan Executive District Officer (EDO) Education Muhammad Ashfaq.

The government decided to build more classrooms in schools that did not have enough space to accommodate a large number of students.

Talking to The Express Tribune, he said EDOs of different districts of the province told the government that the number of sections has increased because more students were enrolled in primary classes.

However, due to the shortage of classrooms, two classes of different grades were being conducted in a single room.

In some schools, students sit in corridors, on grounds or under trees because of the lack of classrooms, he added.

In order to deal with the issue, Ashfaq said the education department decided to construct more rooms. He added instructions were issued to conduct a survey of schools facing problems.
