On a mission: Mustafa Kamal says he can clean up Karachi

PSP chief denies Baldia Town fire suspect is from his party

LAHORE: Pak Sarzameen Party Chairperson Mustafa Kamal said he would never let solid waste remain lying on the roads of Karachi if he were the mayor.

He underlined that the recent neglect was due to the abandonment of the local government system in the country. “We need to empower local bodies in every nook and cranny of the country. Democracy should not be limited to Islamabad or chief minister houses,” he maintained.

Kamal, who was visiting Lahore for party organisation, said the PSP had spread to 26 district of Punjab and he had plans to knock on the door of each and every house in the country to spread his message. He said the party believed in co-existence if there was a difference of opinion.

Kamal clarified his party position over the arrest of prime-suspect of Baldia the factory fire case, Abdul Rehman, and denied that he had any connection with PSP.

Addressing reporters at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Saturday, Kamal pointed out that Abdul Rehman alias Bhola was taken into custody outside Pakistan and he did not have any connection with the PSP. In fact Bhola was Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Sector In Charge when the Baldia factory incident took place, he said. The former Karachi nazim added that his party did not even exist at that time

Kamal said his party’s membership forms were available online and anybody can download or fill the form. However, that does not mean that he or she is a PSP member.
