The Congress termed the hackings “unscrupulous, unethical and roguish,” blaming, what they called, internet trolls for the act. It went on to name "fascist culture" as being responsible for the act. The party is expected to raise the matter in Parliament over the winter session.
Meanwhile, Delhi police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) of Gandhi’s account hacking after a complaint was filed in this regard. According to police, a probe into the incident had been launched and the cyber crime was being investigation from all aspects.
The official Twitter account of the Congress has 1.38 million followers while that of Rahul Gandhi has 1.22 million.
On July 21, the official Twitter account of Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah was hacked, with a group apparently sympathetic to minority Shia Hazara protesters later claiming responsibility.
