LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against former Pakistan Peoples Party information secretary Fauzia Wahab for speaking about the Raymond Davis issue while the matter was sub judice.

Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry observed that the court was not concerned with statements made by politicians expressing their personal views.

Advocate Rana Ilmudin Ghazi submitted that Ms Wahab had, in a press briefing, stated that Raymond Davis did have diplomatic immunity. He argued that Ms Wahab knew the question of immunity was pending in the courts and so her briefing amounted to a contempt of court.
