PTI chief hints at third marriage while attending a wedding in the United Kingdom

ISLAMABAD: For Imran Khan, the third time may prove lucky. The PTI chairman could not help but make the comment while attending a marriage ceremony in the United Kingdom.

Social media users in Pakistan just leapt at the remarks and churned out a frenzy of reactions.

For all intents and purposes, Imran was commenting about the chances of his third marriage.

PTI denies Imran Khan marriage claims

“My track record is not good when it comes to marriages. May be the third time’s lucky,” Imran said in the video circulated on social media websites.

Before too long, TV channels picked up the remarks and splashed it about everywhere.

Many eyebrows were raised when the PTI chief expressed the desire to remarry a second time during the 2014 sit-in at Islamabad.

Initially, the remarks were perceived as a light-hearted comment by Imran to amuse his followers. After a few weeks, the notion turned into reality when he married news anchor, Reham Khan, recording his second marriage.

Following his divorce from Reham Khan, Imran Khan again expressed his desire to marry a third time in TV talk-shows and recently during an interview to a foreign newspaper.



When The Express Tribune contacted a couple of PTI leaders considered to be close to Imran, they laughed off the claim, saying the electronic media was exaggerating a light comment for ‘ratings’.

However, a senior PTI MNA claimed the Reham-Imran divorce had negatively impacted the party and Imran’s overall public perception. He said he would personally advise Imran against remarrying.

Recently, Mufti Saeed, who performed second Nikkah of Imran was found on TV advising Imran Khan and all other divorced men and women to remarry to start a new life. Saeed had said there was no bar in Islam on remarrying after being divorced.



Recently, The Hindustan Times quoted Imran as saying that despite two failed marriages, he would prefer to tie the knot a third time, instead of spending his life as a bachelor.

"I led a very envied bachelor’s life. Many people would have loved to have the kind of life I’ve led, but if you get marriage right, it is a very civilised way of life,” the newspaper quoted him as saying.
