KARACHI: An accountability court reissued on Saturday non-bailable warrants of arrest for a former Sindh minister and a former information department deputy director in a Rs5.76 billion corruption reference.
The accountability court-IV judge ordered the National Accountability Bureau to arrest Sharjeel Inam Memon and Anita Baloch for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of public funds.
Meanwhile, 15 others were also nominated in a reference moved by the anti-graft body earlier last month. The reference revolves around irregularities in awarding contracts to different newspapers and television channels for running public interest advertisements and other campaigns.
The suspects have been accused of embezzling Rs5.76 billion in public funds in the name of fake contracts and bogus expenses, said the prosecutor.
Since both suspects have not yet approached the trial court after being summoned, the judge has ordered NAB to present them before the next hearing on December 3.
