Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Rauf Siddiqui and Pak Sarzameen Party's (PSP) Anis Qaimkhani were released from the Karachi Central Jail on Wednesday, Express News reported.

Both the leaders are accused of sheltering and facilitating terrorists at Ziauddin Hospital, owned by former petroleum minister, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and a close confidante of former president Asif Ali Zardari, Dr Asim Hussain.

Dr Asim and Pasban Pakistan’s general-secretary Usman Moazzam were also granted a bail in the same case on Tuesday, after submitting surety bonds of Rs500,000 each.

Sindh Rangers had lodged the case in August 2015, alleging that Wasim Akhtar, Siddiqui, PPP’s Abdul Qadir Patel and Moazzam had sought favours from the former minister on treatment of their injured party workers.

Akhter, Karachi’s jailed mayor, is facing 39 cases, and has secured bail in 36 of them.
