ISLAMABAD: Prof Dr Shabbir Lehri, President Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, has been elected as a member of the Management Committee of IAMRA. He was elected during the 12th International Conference of International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities held between (IAMRA) on September 20 and 23 in Melbourne, Australia.

The meeting was attended by heads of regulatory authorities and health delegates from all over the world. IAMRA currently has 103 members from 46 countries and PM&DC is a member organisation.

The IAMRA Management Committee has eight members at large, of which Prof Dr Shabbir Lehri is one.  There were candidates form Central and North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australasia-Pacific.

IAMRA mandated its members to carry out policies laid down by the general assembly and has fully empowered its committee members to perform all acts and transact all business for and on behalf of IAMRA.

PM&DC President Prof Dr Shabbir Lehri told The Express Tribune that there is a great need in the region in general and Pakistan in particular to become a member of this most active and esteemed organisation.

He is adamant to bring the organisation up to international standards and believes institutions are made by people.

Lehri also presented the resolution for faculty exchange programme of PM&DC, which was accepted unanimously by IAMRA members.
