ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have thrashed out a plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic during Eid holidays.

A total of 574 police officials will perform duties during Eid holidays in the capital.

Special traffic arrangements have been made at markets, parks, places of worship and sacrificial animal markets, said a press release on Sunday.

The traffic police have already deployed 157 officials at the cattle market in I-12.

A medical camp has also been set up at the market.

Meanwhile, ITP SSP Malik Matloob Ahmed chaired a meeting to review Eid traffic arrangements.

The meeting decided to continue action against those selling animals on city roads.

The police officer appealed to the people not to purchase animals from vendors selling animals on roadsides as it caused obstruction in traffic flow.

He also requested visitors to cattle market to park their vehicles at designated parking areas and cooperate with traffic officials. Deployment has also been increased at shopping centres, public parks, and at graveyards.

The traffic police have also launched a drive to curb wheeling.
