PESHAWAR: The displaced population will be settled in their native areas of the tribal belt by the end of the year.

This was said by Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and mentioned in a handout issued on Tuesday. Jhagra was addressing participants of the 105th National Management Course at Governor House in the city on the same day.

“The reforms process in Fata will be completed in accordance with the expectations of tribespeople,” the document cited the governor as saying.

Fata Additional Chief Secretary Fida Wazir, Secretary for Law and Order Dr Attaur Rehman and FATA Secretariat Planning and Development Secretary Shakeel Qadir were present on the occasion. The participants of the three-day training course comprised senior officers of Pakistan Administrative Service, Pakistan Customs Services and Pakistan Foreign Service.

Rehman briefed participants on the situation in Fata. “A suitable mechanism has been devised to monitor and expedite the pace of work on development schemes and ensure their completion within the stipulated period,” the handout cited him as saying.

He also informed participants about the repatriation of IDPs and the escalating law and order situation in Fata.  “A mechanism has also been developed to enhance the training of levies and khasadar personnel to ensure peace and stability,” the document quoted Rehman as saying.
