ISLAMABAD: In order to address economic empowerment of women and the energy crises of the country, Project Solar Bibi was launched in Islamabad on Saturday.

The project is a joint venture of the Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET) and Ministry of Science & Technology.

Solar-powered umbrella offers pilgrims relief

Training session for the first 50 Solar Bibis began on Saturday and will end on Monday.

Solar Bibi is the flagship project of the E-Solar Programme of Centre for Information Technology, a department under the Ministry of Science & Technology.

Fatima Aneela, head of the E-Solar project, said the reason for the unique name is that  it targets women of remote areas.

These  Solar Bibis after getting  necessary training, will teach using solar energy run equipment in their respective communities.

Aneela added that in coordination with PCRET the ministry aims to train 1,000 Women as Solar Bibis.
