After declaring 32 MQM offices illegal in District East, authorities have also compiled a list of 29 illegal offices in District Central. The four MQM offices demolished on Friday were located in Baldia Town, Federal B Area and North Karachi. The offices were allegedly established on land owned by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). Besides the KMC and KDA officials, contingents of Rangers and police were present on the occasion to avoid any untoward incident during the demolition.
According to the list of MQM’s illegal offices, the party has some 29 illegal offices, including two sector offices and 27 units and sub-units, in District Central.
MQM’s illegal offices are being razed to the ground across the city following the directives of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
10 workers identified
Meanwhile, 10 MQM workers were identified by four witnesses on Friday during identification parades before a judicial magistrate in two cases pertaining to sedition, anti-state offences and attack on media houses.
Police investigators produced Mohammed Waheed, Adil, Fareed Ahmed, Hasnain Alam, Masroor Ahmed, Rashid, Mohsin Siddiqui, Asif Khan, Niaz Ahmed and Jawaid Shaukat in the court and South judicial magistrate conducted identification parades. Officials said that four witnesses, including two police officers and security guards of a news channel, identified the MQM workers from among the dummy suspects.
