Advocate Zafar Iqbal represented petitioners Advocate Anila Amir, Noman Rasheed and Abid Hussain, from Qudrat Organization. The petitioners said CBA had allowed the construction of swings and other recreational facilities a few months back to establish an amusement park. The petitioners were advocating for a clean and pollution-free environment for the residents of Abbottabad. They said the new construction was permitted on the basis of political pressure. As per the petitioners, these constructions would radically alter the clean environment of Cantonment Park and thereby deprive citizens of their fundamental rights.
Status quo ordered against construction of amusement park
The petitioners reminded the court about the assurance that CBA officials had given the court in 2014. They also drew attention to the promise to increase greenery by planting a number of trees and steering clear of new constructions.
The petitioners demanded the removal of amusement park structures and the imposition of a ban on new constructions.
