PTI lawmakers to start movement against K-P CM

MPAs to hold meeting on today; announce rebellion against Khattak

PESHAWAR: Disgruntled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers have summoned a meeting in the city on Friday (today) to announce their rebellion against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. The schedule of workers’ conventions across the province will also be a part of the moot’s agenda.

Following PTI Chairperson Imran Khan’s 13-point reform agenda to give effect to change in K-P, the lawmakers will plan the upcoming PTI workers’ conventions across the district. They will announce a rebellion against the victimisation of PTI lawmakers at the hands of Khattak.



Movement against Khattak

Speaking to The Express Tribune, a disgruntled lawmaker, who requested anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media on the matter, confirmed their meeting will be held at the residence of PTI MNA Kheyal Zaman Bangash in Hayatabad on Friday.

The lawmaker flayed Khattak for victimising lawmakers and reducing funds and other privileges. According to him, PTI members are incensed with Khattak’s discriminatory behaviour and have been compelled to start movement against him. He added the disgruntled lawmakers will keep striving until Khattak gets replaced. According to the lawmaker, Khattak is sidelining PTI chief Imran Khan in several matters through a well-planned ploy and some ministers are embroiled in corrupt practices.



“Corruption is at its peak in different departments of the province while Khattak and his team have turned a blind eye [to the malpractice that surrounds them],” he added.

The lawmaker accused the CM of spending funds for the entire province on four districts – Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi and Dir.  “During the meeting, they will plan a strategy against the CM and will inform the PTI chairperson about his corrupt practices,” he added.

Cycle of ignorance

Disgruntled lawmakers within PTI have voiced reservations over Imran’s ignorance and threatened to take further measures if their grievances are not addressed.



The party chief chaired a meeting on July 25 at Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, and it was attended by several leaders, including Khattak. However, some lawmakers, who were expected to meet the PTI chairperson to discuss their grievances, were not invited to the moot.

In spite of this, the disgruntled lawmakers joined PTI’s Tehreek-e-Ehtesab rally on August 7 and raised their voice against corruption in the country.
