According to The Hollywood Reporter, Robbie expressed a desire to further investigate the relationship between the film’s two most notorious figures. “There is still just so much more to do,” she said about Quinn and fellow actor Jared Leto’s work as Joker.
Much of the criticism hitting Suicide Squad has centered on the screen time – or lack thereof – given to Leto’s clown prince of crime. In fact, the actor recently admitted that a lot of his work has been cut. And although Robbie could not speak of exactly why Leto had such few scenes, she suspected that it had to do with the director’s commitment to creating a coherent narrative, which focused on the film’s central mission.
Robbie’s comments come just a month after Heat Vision exclusively reported that Warner Bros. had been developing a spin-off with her help. It stated back in May that the film has a female screenwriter attached and is, in many ways, the product of Robbie falling in love with DC’s female characters. The film is said to focus on several of the comic book giant’s female heroes and villains.
Suicide Squad hit Pakistani theatres on Friday.
