Sayeeda Leghari, chairman at Pepsi Cola Sukkur Beverages Limited and Administrator at Shirin Jinnah Colony’s Government School, and her sister Simeen Tapal, homemaker, share their unmatchable bond. From helping each other fall asleep, to taking rickshaw rides together in Bombay, they talk to us about their special journey

What’s your first memory of each other?

Sayeeda: Simeen crying, and me having to look after her.

Simeen: When we were kids, Sayeeda would count from one to a hundred and back, till I fell asleep.

What is the craziest thing you have done together?

Sayeeda: When I went with her for her National Tennis Championship match where she fell and I had to rush her to the hospital! Eventually she went through knee surgery because of that fall.

Simeen: We would take rickshaw rides up and down Bandstand in Bombay, (our favourite city) where we used to spend our summers as kids.

What did you get punished for the most as a child?

Sayeeda: I was never punished in school and if I was punished at home it was by my parents for being defiant.

Simeen: I was very naughty! I would get in trouble in school for entering the classroom through the window instead of the door.

If you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, from the others closet, what would it be?

Sayeeda: I’d wear Simeen’s saris.

Simeen: I could wear her entire closet from the shoes to the tops.

If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would do?

Sayeeda: I would be more assertive.

Simeen: I would enjoy being a businesswoman.

What is the one thing you love about your sibling?

Sayeeda: Her easy-going nature.

Simeen: She really knows how to take care of someone and show compassion during a hard time.

If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up?

Sayeeda: At first we don’t talk, but then we just
start talking.

Simeen: It’s as simple as that!

What is the one secret talent your sister has, that you wish you did too?

Sayeeda: How she gets along with everyone.

Simeen: Her strength.

Describe your sister in three words:

Sayeeda: Loving, caring and friendly.

Simeen: Beautiful, hardworking and intelligent.

Which fictional character is your sister most like?

Sayeeda: Cinderella.

Simeen: Scarlett O’Hara from Gone with the Wind.

How are your personalities similar?

Sayeeda: We are both family oriented.

Simeen: We are both very compassionate.

I can’t live without my sister because…

Sayeeda: Well, blood is thicker than water!

Simeen: She’s my sister, and that means so much in itself.
