Crackdown: Food outlets sealed over poor hygiene

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) closed down several food outlets over poor hygiene on Monday. The authority’s Ravi Town food safety officers sealed production units of Ilyas Ice Cream, Rana Qadir Ice Cream Factory and Afzal Ice Cream. The factories were using unfiltered water in manufacturing of cold dessert. PFA officials inspected water samples at site that failed. PFA’s Samanabad Town officials sealed Nasir Chicken for unhygienic conditions. The restaurant had stored food products in dirty freezers. Workers were unaware of food regulations and hygiene standards. The Shalimar Town officials sealed Bhola Chicken and Mutton Shop over poor cleanliness. Nishtar Town’s food safety officials sealed N3 Foods in Ferozepur Road for using unprocessed water.
