Prime minister lauds PML-N supporters for rejecting negative politics in AJK elections

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the Indian-occupied Kashmir will soon become a part of Pakistan.

“The day is not far when Jammu & Kashmir will become Pakistan. No one can stop freedom movement in occupied Kashmir,” the prime minister said while addressing a rally in Muzaffarabad after the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) emerged as the front-runner in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

The prime minister thanked his party supporters for “rejecting negative politics and making the PML-N victorious in AJK polls".

He said the culture of negative politics should end.

"I am not accusing anyone nor am I using bad language against anyone," said the PM. “I did not respond to any negative talk of my opponents because I think success in politics does not lie in staging dharnas but in doing something [for the people].”

Promises development

Promising rapid progress in the valley, Nawaz said a network of motorways, roads and highways will be laid down in the AJK over the next five years.

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, the prime minister said those who talk about running anti-government movement could only secured two seats in AJK.

“Their [anti-government] will not be any different from their election result.”

He urged the people of AJK not to forget the sacrifices of innocent Kashmiris on the other side of the border.

“While we celebrate today we must not forget the sacrifices of those who are facing the worst violations of human rights in the Indian occupied Kashmir.”

If you sold your house to another person, there is no use in crying about it emotionally. Emotionally you may be connected by legally you have no right. Similarly, you should have taken the king of J& K into confidence. Instead you wanted to overpower him and he acceded to India. Whether you like it or the people like it or not, he was the king and had the power to accede on behalf of his people. If anyone wants to go to pakistan they are free to do so, but not claim part of India as pakistan

Based on World concern over the Kashmir dispute - nope. Good example of why this govt has no credibility and a great example of why the World has reservations about the competency/stability of Pakistan's leadership.

Nawaj Sharif should also say that if Kashmir becomes Pakistan then in dowry Pakistan will receive 200 million Muslims presently living in India. No nation including China will be morally or ethically could insist that India keep Muslims.

Rahul | 8 years ago | Reply @sterry: 53% of Pakistanis were actually Bengalis. They separated in 1971. In 25 years they had had enough of Pakistani Ideology. Indian Kashmir is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious including Sunni Muslims, Shia Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Christians and Sikhs. Pakistan's record does not indicate it can accommodate diverisity.

sterry | 8 years ago | Reply @PrakashG: Think about it from a pragmatic point of view. India cannot deny the aspirations of Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir forever. The majority never consider themselves Indian and are more aligned with Pakistan geographically, racially, culturally and religiously. The British and the Indians may have cheated the Kashmiris in 1947 but everyone knows that even 750 000 Indian soldiers will not be able to hold onto occupied Kashmir forever. On the other hand, people in Pakistani Azad Kashmir sign up to join the military to liberate their brothers and sisters. It's just a matter of time so why doesn't India just admit the obvious and make peace with the people there and allow them to determine their own future in accordance with UN resolutions which call for a referendum?
