MANSEHRA:

Four policemen were martyred and one other was injured as unidentified gunmen attacked a police checkpoint  at Mansehra toll plaza.

The attackers sprayed bullets at policemen sheltering from rain inside a checkpost building in Ghazi Kot town in Mansehra before speeding away in a getaway vehicle. The injured policeman is reported to be in critical condition and has been shifted to the hospital.

An intelligence official confirmed the incident and blamed 'miscreants'.

Up till now, Mansehra has remained a relatively peaceful district in the highly volatile Northwest region of the country.

Rashid Saleem | 14 years ago | Reply The NWFP police have lost around 353 policemen in 2009 in terrorism-related incidents. These stats and the current news clearly show how professional police has been in performing its duty. When we raise fingers on our police on one sad incident, we should think about these numbers as well.
