Target surpassed: Gwadar customs collect Rs11b more

QUETTA: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Gwadar collected Rs11 billion more than the revenue collection target assigned for financial year 2015-16. According to an MCC statement, it has exceeded customs duty collection target by 203% during financial year 2015-16. The collectorate recovered Rs5.0 billion customs duty against a target of Rs1.65 billion. Combined target of the collectorate for all taxes during the past financial year was Rs19.48 billion and the taxes collected against this target stood at Rs30.65 billion — around Rs11 billion more than the target assigned. The anti-smuggling wing of MCC Gwadar also seized more than 3.2 million litres of smuggled diesel during this period. Among others 7,630 bottles of liquor, 10,594 cans of beer and 1,388kg of narcotics were also seized by MCC Gwadar during the financial year ended on June 30, 2016.
