ISLAMABAD: Traders have questioned the quality of work being carried out by the civic agency on repair of roads in Islamabad.

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce (ICCI) Acting President Sheikh Pervez Ahmed said that though the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has started repairing roads in various sectors of Islamabad, the quality of work was sub-standard as some repaired roads particularly in Sector I-10 have started crumbling, said a press release on Wednesday.

He demanded that the civic agency’s road directorate must monitor the ongoing work to ensure quality.

He said that the monsoon season was around the corner and the poor quality of work may create potholes on such roads.

“Link roads in Sector I-10 have been in a shambles for the last 10 years and the CDA should focus on their repair to facilitate motorists and residents,” Pervez said.

He also said that many sectors in Islamabad have been facing a serious water crisis with I-9 and I-10 sectors being the worst hit. He said that the CDA should set up tube wells in such areas to ensure regular water supply.

The ICCI head said that the water tanker mafia was exploiting the situation by selling water at exorbitant rates.
