MUZAFFARGARH: Provincial Assembly Member (MPA) Zeeshan Gurmani and DCO Hafiz Shaukat Ali on Friday distributed Rs7.8 million among families of the victims of an oil-tanker explosion which occurred in Qasba Gujrat in March.

A sum of Rs500,000 was paid to heirs of the deceased. Rs200,000 were provided to the injured.

Gurmani said the compensation had been provided by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.

He said the PARCO oil refinery would also provide compensation.

A cheque for Rs500,000 cheque was handed over to Kulsoom Bibi, widow of Mehboob Ahmad, Sardaraan Begum, widow of Shah Ali, Kulsoom Mai, widow of Allah Ditta, Ghulam Yasin, father of Muhammad Muzammil and Muhammad Mudassir, Sajida Bibi, widow of Munir Ahmad, Ahmad Yar, father of Haji Muhammad, Hasina Bibi, widow of Muhammad Ibrahim, Aziz Bibi widow of Sabir Hussain, Sarwar Bibi widow of Latif Ahmad, and Manzooraan Bibi, widow of Fayyaz Hussain.

Six people had died on the spot when an oil tanker at Qasba Gujrat caught fire. Five others had died later.
