Murder case: Suspect sentenced to life imprisonment  

The victim had succumbed to his wounds on way to the hospital

KARACHI: A sessions court sentenced on Thursday a man to life imprisonment for the murder of the then president of Electronic Dealers Association, who was a leader of Saddar electronics market. Manzar alias Rumi was found guilty of killing Muhammad Irfan in January 2013 in a firing incident near Abdullah College in North Nazimabad. The accused was tried inside Karachi Central Jail for security concerns. Judge Sikandar Ameer Pahore handed him a sentence of 25 years. The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on him and ordered that if the convict is failed to pay the amount, he will undergo six more months of punishment. According to the prosecution, the victim was shot for putting up resistance during a robbery bid. The victim had succumbed to his wounds on way to the hospital. Manzar was arrested five months after the incident took place.
